Skins is one of my favourite British tv series so far...really impresses me compared to other tv series which I find it rubbish. Anyway, skins' website has this youth and vibrant feeling when you surf it. The colours and the content they put in are very vibrant and youthful. I guess it is the youth that the producers are targetting so they are using colours to also bring something close to youth. It does have something similar to Avril Lavigne's website where black and pink is concern (See Avril)
Similarly as to Celine' website, although black is her background but what stands out is the picture in the middle and her name. I guess that is what makes the website significant as long as you can target your main message to your audience. Black background can be catchy but it does brings out the message you want to promote because it stands out.
